The lotus is a Buddhist symbol that reflects the journey we are all on and the promise of where it can lead. The lotus seed begins at the bottom of a pond. As it grows, it pushes its way through clouded water, plants, and debris, until it finally blooms into a beautiful flower on the surface of the pond.
A little about what I do . . . . . .
We are all on a journey. Everyone has a story.
Do you know you're smart but you struggle with reading and writing?
Do you intend to finish an assignments but can't seem to get it in on time . . .
Or sometimes even find where you put it?
Do you love exploring in the woods and wetlands and wish you didn't have to be inside so much at school?
Do you know the names of every frog and salamander, but could care less about the names of presidents?
Do you wish recess were longer and you had more time to play or be with friends?
Do you love math, understand it right away, and feel that you often have to wait for everyone else to get it?
Do you wish you could learn faster and more deeply?
Maybe you love learning--you listen to billions of podcasts, you've recorded your own music, you can paint or draw anything. Maybe you're already working on your first Great American Novel and wish school were as interesting as your latest passion. Perhaps things are fine at home, and you do really well with friends when they come over and hang one-to-one, but in a larger group you feel like everyone got the instructions on how to get along socially--except for you. You might feel that you just don't fit with kids at school and wish there were more kids who shared your interests.
You've been told you have dyslexia, ADHD, or anxiety, and you are wondering what that means. You might be scared something is wrong with you because school seems easy for your friends, but feels hard for you. Maybe you don't feel smart or capable and are worried about your future. Or maybe you're pretty sure the future is going to be awesome, but wish you felt that way about school since that's where you are now.
At Story Educational Consulting we listen to your full story, take time to understand how you learn--what is working and not working at school--and what your interests, strengths and passions are. Then we do our best to work with you and your family to find resources to make school work better or help you find programs and schools that fit you best, both academically and socially. At Story Educational Consulting we passionately believe that every young person has what they need to be happy and inspired in life and learning. Sometimes you just need a little help as you figure that out. We're here to help you!
